Operator checklists for STP, ETP and RO

A printable one-page checklist for each plant type, so the daily basics do not get skipped.

STP: sewage treatment plant

Daily
Inlet screen and grit cleared; flow reading noted; blower running and DO checked in the aeration tank; MBBR media moving or SBR cycle completing; clarifier surface clear; treated water colour and odour; chlorine dose and residual; sludge level.
Weekly
Sludge drained or dewatered; screens and diffusers inspected; pump and blower oil, belts and vibration; chemical stock; flow meter and level switches tested.
Monthly
Lab test of inlet and outlet BOD, COD, TSS and pH; panel and earthing check; valve exercise; record and review trends.

ETP: effluent treatment plant

Daily
Equalisation tank level and mixing; inlet pH; chemical dosing rates and tank levels; flocculation and clarifier condition; biological tank DO and appearance; outlet pH, colour and TSS; sludge handling; log all readings.
Weekly
Dosing pump calibration; jar test if inlet has changed; sludge dewatering performance; instrument cleaning; housekeeping and leaks.
Monthly
Outlet COD, BOD and TDS tests against your consent; review chemical consumption per KLD; maintenance plan update.

RO plant

Daily
Feed, interstage and reject pressures; feed, permeate and reject flows; permeate conductivity; antiscalant and chemical dosing; cartridge filter pressure drop; record the values every shift.
Watch for
Normalised permeate flow falling or pressure drop rising. Membrane suppliers usually advise cleaning when normalised flow drops about 10 to 15% or pressure drop rises about 15%. Confirm the trigger in your membrane supplier guidance and plant O&M manual.
Monthly
Feed water analysis, SDI, chlorine check before the membranes, CIP record, instrument calibration.

Common questions

Can I use these for any STP or ETP?

They cover the common checks for most biological and physico-chemical plants. Your plant may need extra items, so follow its O&M manual first.

How often should RO membranes be cleaned?

It depends on feed water and pre-treatment. Clean on the signs in the checklist, not on a fixed calendar, and follow your membrane supplier guidance.

Can you write O&M checklists for my plant?

Yes. We prepare plant-specific O&M manuals and checklists, and can also run the plant under an O&M contract.

Need a plant-specific O&M plan?

Send your plant details. We reply within one to two working days.
