Hotel STP — Sewage Treatment Plant for Hotels & Resorts

Guests must never see, hear or smell the STP — but the plant must handle weekend peaks, banquet surges and kitchen grease, and return water clean enough for landscaping and cooling towers. We design compact, quiet, odour-controlled STPs for hotels and resorts.

The effluent and the norms

Hotels generate 400–600 L per occupied room per day with strong weekend and event peaks, kitchen FOG, laundry surfactants and swimming-pool backwash; resorts add spread-out plumbing and landscape irrigation demand. Treated water reuse for gardens, flushing and cooling towers typically covers 30–50 % of total demand — a direct saving on tanker or municipal bills.

Treatment train we design

  1. Grease managementKitchen grease traps or a small DAF before the STP — the number-one cause of hotel STP trouble.
  2. Equalisation12–24 h buffer for weekend and banquet peaks.
  3. BiologicalMBBR or MBR sized for peak occupancy; low-noise blowers in acoustic enclosures.
  4. Tertiary and disinfectionTube settler + PSF/ACF or MBR, UV/chlorination for landscape and cooling reuse.
  5. Odour controlCovered tanks, forced ventilation through a biofilter or carbon unit; plant room away from guest areas.
  6. AutomationLevel-based operation, alarms to the engineering department, remote monitoring.

Where we apply it

City hotels
Basement packaged STPs, compact footprint, noise and odour control.
Resorts and villas
Distributed collection, landscape reuse, seasonal variation.
Banquet and convention venues
Extreme peaks; large equalisation.
Serviced apartments and hostels
Steady loads; simple robust design.

How KK Enviro Engineers delivers

Sampling plan and inlet characterisation → process design (PFD, P&ID, sizing, BOQ) → supply, erection and commissioning → biological stabilisation → handover with O&M manual and training → AMC if you want us to stay. We also audit and upgrade plants built by others.

Frequently asked questions

How do we keep the STP odour-free?

Covered tanks under slight negative pressure, exhaust through a biofilter or activated carbon, no open sludge handling and a plant room located and ventilated correctly.

Can treated water go to the cooling tower?

Yes — after tertiary filtration and disinfection it meets cooling make-up quality; we add UF where the cooling chemistry demands very low turbidity.

What size STP for a 200-room hotel?

Roughly 80–120 KLD depending on F&B, banquet and laundry loads; we size from your occupancy and function plan.
